Working alongside the commercial and marketing VP's the individual will be a key contributor to business strategy providing ideas and insight to drive continuous improvement and develop new initiatives.As our Marketing Director for Portfolio 3, you will manage a large team of senior managers, marketing executives and specialist functions and will be a skilled marketing strategist able to inspire creativity and enthusiasm in others. You will need to be both highly creative and strongly analytical. You are data-oriented with a history of testing and optimisation and exceptional attention to detail. You will also bring extensive experience in digital marketing and marketing technology, and be accustomed to delivering in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.What you will doKey responsibilities:
Ensure strategic marketing objectives are identified and achieved
Act as a change management ambassador, demonstrating a positive and constructive attitude towards challenges and change
Share best practice within the team and wider Global Exhibitions business
Ensure the team has the appropriate skills and resources to deliver agreed objectives
Actively contribute to the strategic plans for products within the portfolio
Manage a cross functional marketing team which includes; event marketers, digital marketing managers, designers, content developers, social media and audience development
Key Performance Indicators:
Devise and deliver innovative consumer and B2B marketing campaigns to achieve pre-determined objectives/targets
Marketing team is motivated and appropriately skilled/trained to carry out their responsibilities
Marketing team works collaboratively with other departments to deliver shared objectives
Marketing campaigns are delivered within budget with spend allocations based on sound commercial reasoning
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Represent the Portfolio across ME and divisional groups on marketing, digital, data and customer insights
Take an active role in the development and implementation of Corporate/EMEA initiatives
Work with portfolio management to develop value propositions and messaging to drive engagement and conversion
Identify and deliver key portfolio-wide projects to position products for continued growth (e.g. branding, cross marketing, key account management, first time exhibitor experience etc)
Understand recent customer survey feedback and apply this information to marketing strategies
Identify risks to the business achieving marketing targets and work with the portfolio management team to mitigate
Share marketing case studies and best practice from across the EMEA business by forging collaborative relationships with marketers from across the division
Leadership & Management:
Lead a team of marketing and digital managers across a portfolio of products
Provide guidance, feedback and inspiration to the team
Work with Marketing Managers to ensure successful delivery of marketing campaigns in line with agreed KPI's, event and divisional strategy
Work with line reports to develop skills and competencies and ensure they have a clear development roadmap
Develop succession plan to identify top talent, flight risks and guarantee continuous delivery from the team
Champion the adoption and optimisation of marketing technology solutions
Cultivate and demonstrate a high-performance culture within the marketing team
Campaign Strategy & Delivery
Lead the portfolio's marketing strategy. Responsible for the marketing, data and digital portfolio strategy and delivering strategic show marketing
A clear understanding of the business's overall mission, how this should be communicated through marketing and PR and an ability to use marketing technology to deliver results
Responsible for best practice and knowledge sharing (marketing, digital, data and customer insights) across the portfolio and the ME business
Take the lead and document the results of pilot projects and testing
Develop the capabilities of marketing across the portfolio, integrating technology into the strategy and tactical delivery. Ensure team are equipped with the skills to deliver a fresh campaign strategy
Manage budgets and allocate resources amongst projects
Demonstrate and encourage creative approaches, using market intelligence, and apply it to show content to create unique and engaging visitor experiences
Work with show teams to optimise the engagement at each touch point in the customer journey by encouraging teams to introduce new ways of marketing and reduce reliance on more familiar activities that produce declining results
Identify trends in data to encourage teams to do more of what works and less of what doesn't; navigating the move away from opinion-driven decision making to data-driven decision making
QualificationsWhat you will bring
You have significant marketing leadership experience and are an excellent people manager, with strong experience of managing a high-performing senior team (managing managers)
You bring extensive experience in consumer marketing, ideally in the events and/or exhibitions industry
You're great at building relationships with partners and stakeholders, and know how to manage senior stakeholders to develop and maintain long-term, successful, productive relationships
You can demonstrate a thorough understanding of and experience in digital (PPC, SEO, online advertising) and direct marketing
You can evidence database development and growth, including segmentation / advanced targeting
You have significant exposure to design and print suppliers/agencies, and know how to get the best out of the partners and vendors you work with
You have an analytical and questioning mindset and excellent verbal and written communication skills
You are deadline and target-driven and thrive in a pressurised environment
What would be helpfulExperience of:
Using marketing automation technology
Using Eloqua and/or Adobe Experience Manager
Working with CMS platforms
Managing social media through scheduling platforms such as Sprout Social or Hootesuite etc.
Social media listening and sentiment analysis
Marketing analytics and reporting platforms (Google Analytics/Adobe or others)
B2B Events/Exhibitions marketing
Formal business/marketing training or degree/higher education qualification
