Quality Engineer – Substation Projects

The quality engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all construction and installation activities at substation sites (AIS/GIS) are executed in compliance with project specifications, international standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE), and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001). This role involves inspection, documentation, non-conformance management, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders for quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain project-specific Quality Plans and Inspection & Test Plans (ITP).
- Conduct site inspections and quality audits for electrical works, including transformers, switchgears, control panels, earthing systems, and cable laying/termination.
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with technical specifications and QA/QC requirements.
- Review and approve method statements, material submittals, and test reports.
- Ensure proper calibration of test equipment used on site.
- Handle non-conformance reports (NCR), root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain detailed QA/QC records and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports.
- Liaise with consultants, clients, and regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
- Support commissioning and testing teams with quality verification and documentation.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Experience: 3–7 years in quality engineering within electrical substation projects (66 kV to 400 kV).
- Knowledge of IEC/IEEE/NEMA/NEC standards.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- Understanding of electrical testing standards (Hi-pot, IR, contact resistance, CT/PT testing, etc.).
- ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor
- NEBOSH/OSHA (for safety-aware QA roles)
- PMP (for project management knowledge)
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
