- Execute laboratory tests as authorized by the laboratory director, demonstrating proper technical skills.
- Ensure appropriate specimen handling, processing, and testing procedures to maintain accuracy in results.
- Follow quality control protocols, documenting all quality assurance activities and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Implement corrective actions whenever test systems fall outside established performance levels.
- Perform analyses of biological samples such as blood and urine to detect diseases and abnormalities.
- Maintain and sanitize laboratory equipment, ensuring a clean working environment.
- Collect samples from patients, adhering to best practices for safety and infection control.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives as directed by supervisory personnel.
- Complete other relevant tasks as assigned by the laboratory supervisor or management.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
- Experience working as a Lab Specialist or in a comparable laboratory role.
- Expertise in laboratory techniques, equipment, and protocols.
- Attention to detail with strong analytical skills for accurate laboratory testing.
- Knowledge of quality control and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Track record of developing laboratory protocols and maintaining laboratory workflows.
- Capable of mentoring and training junior laboratory staff.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Certification from SCFHS is required.
- Previous supervisory or management experience in a laboratory context is preferred.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) is advantageous.
