The Firefighting Instructor is responsible for delivering professional training on firefighting techniques, emergency response, and fire prevention. The role includes conducting both theoretical and practical sessions, ensuring trainees gain the skills and knowledge required to perform fire safety duties in industrial, commercial, or emergency service settings. The instructor also ensures all training activities meet safety regulations and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver firefighting and emergency response training based on approved curriculum and safety standards.
- Instruct trainees on fire behavior, extinguishing techniques, use of firefighting equipment, and rescue operations.
- Conduct live fire and practical drills in controlled training environments.
- Ensure the safety of all participants during practical exercises and simulations.
- Maintain firefighting training equipment, ensuring readiness and proper function.
- Evaluate trainee performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Prepare training materials, lesson plans, handouts, and assessments.
- Keep detailed records of attendance, assessments, and certifications.
- Stay updated with national/international firefighting codes, standards, and practices.
- Support the development and improvement of firefighting training programs.
- Comply with organizational policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- IFSAC or Pro Board qualifications
- NFPA 1001: Firefighter 1
- NFPA 1001: Firefighter 2
- NFPA 472: Hazardous Materials Awareness
- NFPA 472: Hazardous Materials Operations
- NFPA 1006: Rope Rescue Awareness and Operations
- NFPA 1041: Fire Instructor 1
- NFPA 1021: Fire Officer 1 [advantageous]
- Minimum 5-7 years of operational experience in firefighting or emergency response.
- Experience as a trainer or instructor in a fire academy or training Institute is preferred.
- First Aid, CPR, and basic life support certification (BLS) advantageous
- English/Arabic written and spoken skills required.
- Strong knowledge of fire safety, firefighting techniques, and rescue operations.
- Ability to manage high-risk training scenarios with safety and professionalism.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong leadership and group management skills.
- Physically fit and capable of demonstrating firefighting tasks.
- Familiarity with relevant safety standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, Civil Defense guidelines).
- Flexibility to work varying hours if needed.
- Computer literate
- Ability to formulate/populate and submit reports an administrative document accurately and timeously
